Mary Eshbaugh Hayes
moved to Aspen in 1952 as a journalist and photographer for the
Aspen Times weekly newspaper, and eventually rose through the ranks
to become the paper's Editor in Chief. Today she still writes her
popular society column for the paper's weekly edition and contributes
regularly to other area and regional periodicals.
A Syracuse University Graduate in Journalism and English Literature,
Mary originally hails from Geneseo, New York.
Mary's photographs of Aspen span six decades and record the many
distinctive modern eras of the Town's development and culture.
In 1953 Mary married Jim Hayes and they have five children;
Pauli
Hayes, Elli Hayes Ford, Lauri LeJune Hayes, Clayton
Hayes, and Jess Bates. |
